Day 76, Worship Conference Day 1

This morning we had breakfast at our hotel before leaving for our first meeting of the day. Steven went to the local bible school and taught the students and staff about prayer, how we are not to rely solely on the Lords Prayer when praying, but to use it as a guide. The Word says to use it as a guide. He also shared the 7 steps to an intimate prayer life. He shared it with our class before, but heading it again was just as powerful! The Lord was moving and we only got through the first 3 steps. We will finish the last 4 tomorrow, and I will share it on here. It really is jus too good not to pass on.

After this, they prepared us some local Indonesian food for lunch. Very different! They use a lot of lemongrass, a flavor I am not very familiar with but it was interesting. While in Cambodia, we had lunch at an Indonesian restaurant, which helped me become more familiar with the flavors. Though the dishes were completely different, they had the same flavors. After lunch, we had time to hang out with the youth there in bible school. Super sweet but hard with the language barrier. But it is always so awesome how much you can connect with someone who doesn't speak your language but as brothers and sisters in Christ!

Following lunch, we went to the Hyatt Hotel (suuuuper fabulous!) to view the pool which is where we will be having water baptisms tomorrow for them. Stunninggggg!

We went to Starbucks for some time of fellowship before going to the venue we will be having our conference at tonight to do sound testing. We also passed up a volcano that we will visit on Thursday, Mount Merapi It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and still erupts regularly. It last erupted in 2010 and demolished 3 villages!

The conference tonight was amazing! Since the topic was worship, I can honestly say I wasn't all that excited since I am not a worship leader. But this was soooo much more than what I thought. This was not just for leaders, but for anyone who wants to enter into His presence and worship. Truly incredible message! Here are some of the notes I took:

How to have a successful encounter with Jesus:
  • What makes you feel welcome makes Him feel welcome. And what makes you feel unwelcome makes Him feel unwelcome. The Holy Spirit will only dwell here He is honored and welcomed.
  • God only goes where He is invited to go. He will never barge into your life
  • We prepare the atmosphere as a dedicated zone to focus on The Lord and He alone, we must block all else out.
  • You can go to a birthday party without ever wishing the guest of honor happy birthday. Some people go to church just to eat the cake and ice-cream.
  • When you invest, and someone else invests, it is a successful encounter. And this is what Jesus wants, for us to connect with Him.
  • #1 reason people don't receive from the Holy Spirit is because they aren't emotional enough, they don't want to be embarrassed or lose face or have people see them as weak. But the woman with the alabaster jar did (what a messy picture: tears pouring down onto His feet, then being wiped with hair, then pouring oil onto Him), and she received!
  • Be emotional and you will receive!
  • A successful encounter means that you will feel ashamed and embarrassed, you will feel so small. It's the attitude of the heart. Take down your pride, show up humbly and love on Him deeply.
  • This is a choice. And the choice to be humble is what honors God!

After service we had a chance to mingle with the participants. So awesome to see them and hear just how appreciative they were that we came all the way there to share about Jesus with them! After that we went to dinner with the youth. I sat next to one of the singers who was soooo sweet! We couldn't communicate much because of our language barrier, but one common language no matter where you are: laughter. We just laughed a lot at our attempt at language communication, pretty entertaining. Such sweet sister in Christ.

Rice with jackfruit, duck egg, chicken, and spicey cow skin. With carbonated lemon water. Interesting for sure.
