Day 63, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

On Wednesday we woke up and had breakfast before leaving for Cameron Highlands. Just before leaving, a local pastor came to the plantation with 2 of his leaders. They came to ask for prayer for their ministry. They reach out to the secluded villages and groups of people that most will never reach. Currently they are doing a lot with the Orang Asli people, but are coming across some issues. Because they are Christian village people, the government doesn't like it. Since Malaysia is Muslim dominated, they want all of the weak to turn Muslim. So to reach these secluded groups on the jungle hidden away, they offer them free homes, cars, etc to try and persuade them to convert. Because these poor jungle people have nothing, they are easily persuaded and abandon their Christian ways for Muslim. Right now the government is really concentrated on the Orang Asli people, and they are torn between choosing our God and the luxuries the government will give them. So we prayed for the team and left for Cameron Highlands.

These are the homes the government gives them in their own communities.

On our journey there, we were able to stop at a small Orang Asli village!! We went to one families area only and were able to meet them and see how they live. While there, we learned that they are still hunters and gatherers with no electricity. They hunt with blow guns! Really cool. So many things I  am so blessed to experience most people only ever see on TV or read about. I am so blessed for this opportunity!

When we arrived in Cameron Highlands, we toured a huge tea plantation. Absolutely stunning views! Before leaving, we all ordered tea grown at the plantation. I had strawberry tea and it was delicious!

We got to our rooms to unpack and freshen up before dinner. We are staying at a very nice Christian group facility. We have two rooms: one boys and one girls. The rooms have bunk beds and large bathrooms set up dorm style. And a steal! 10 ringgits, about $3.50 USD per person!
We left as a group for dinner then had some free time to wonder down a tourist strip. Very beautiful place, and the temperature was very cool since we were so high in the mountains.
