Day 65, Youth Night

This morning we arrived back in Singapore just before noon time. And I slept all night waking up 5 minutes before getting off. It was sooo nice sleeping that late! So typical, the first thing we did after getting off the train was eat McDonalds!
We came home and unpacked just in time to leave for youth night. We watched 'Upside Down' then had dinner that Eric's sweet mom prepared for us: ginger beef with vegetable. Verrrry good and authentic Chinese!

We ended the night with our bible study. We talked about the Mount of Transfiguration and encountering Gods glory. A few good points:
  • How close you want to get to Him will determine how close to Him you will get.
  • When you come to worship, expect God to show up.
  • You must be a constant student of the Word of God.
  • You need encounters with God so that He can turn your confusion into confirmation.
Before we prayed, Ben and Anne gave us an opportunity to share any encounters we as Stevens students have had since the program. I was able to share about the way I encounter The Lord. Since being in the program, I have found that most locals experience God totally different than I do. I see them on the ground screaming and crying and totally losing control of their bodies. And while I understand that they are experiencing God, I constantly wanted to know why I wasn't experiencing Him just as they were, I was beginning to doubt that I had just as close of a relationship with Him as they do. But The Lord spoke to me and told me that I did, but it was just different. And naturally my flesh was still doubting. But my God is good and knows His children so well. Twice He confirmed to me through different people that our relationship is different, not wrong, just different. And that it was okay and that He likes that we are different. Really confirmed what He told me all along and tying it back into one of our major points of the night: You need encounters with God so that He can turn your confusion into confirmation!

Anne & Ben- such awesome leaders!
