Day 71, First Sermon Accomplished!

First and foremost, I want to say how sad I am that I missed my favorite nephew, Hayden's, 6th birthday. But I am glad to hear that he had a great day. Especially with his Hulk cake, and icing all over his face!

And it was both of my fabulous godchildren's first day of school!
Grace's first day of 4th grade!!! Time flies!

Hayden's first day of 1st grade!

So today we had our first sermon exam. I was surprisingly calm in  my head, but my physical nerves were shaking. Pretty weird. But I went up there, and felt that I did very well! I received all good and excellent's on my presentation which is better than I was expecting. The title of my message was "Choosing A Godly Spouse". It is very simple minded, but is a topic dear to my heart. Though I am not married, I cannot wait to get it right when I do.

After all of us gave our sermons, we moved on with regular class. We talked on finances, and what a lecture we had! 1 Timothy says "For the love of money is the root of all evil". I can say I have always read it as "Money is the root of all evil", but that is not the case. It is the LOVE of money. And sadly I can say I am guilty of that. Who doesn't love money? But it is not biblical. Money is just an object that can come or go. Our trust should never be in money, but on our provider!
We also covered "entitlement". You are entitled to NOTHING. If we got what we are entitled to, we are all entitled to the lake of fire. (Remember, our God is not a fair God. If we was, we would all be going to hell as sinners because that is a fair punishment for our sins. But he isn't fair. And I am so glad he isn't!)
Also, God is a God of specificity, not generality. Be specific in what you want and are praying for. For example, if you go to a restaurant and order "food" and "drink", you aren't specific and chances are you will not be brought anything to the table because you weren't specific.
Before closing, we went over again the concept of tithes and offerings. Though it seems to basic, sooo many people just don't get it. I don't understand why, but they don't. So to recap:
-Tithe: 10% fee you must pay
-Offering: your gift in addition to your fee

*Remember, serve God first and He will prosper you according to your faithfulness with what you have. Give and it will be given back to you.

Tonight I am working on my message for tomorrow. It is titled "Raising Godly Children".  3 ways to raise godly offspring, raising them the biblical way that God intended for us to do is: teach them young, train the child, and discipline. My main scripture is Malachi 2:15 "Has not the one God made you? You belong to Him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring." I am excited to conquer this tomorrow and finish!
Tomorrow is the last day of class. I don't know how I feel. I am very sad, but ecstatic I made it to the end. I put in my 100% and accomplished all that I wanted to. I am working to conquer my fear of public speaking, and stepping out of my comfort zone daily. I am ready to use all of this next week in Indonesia while I will be with Pastor Steven for the conference he is holding!
