Day 12

So today was our weekly day off, and it was very nice. I slept until after 11! Then I read my Bible until about 1. Me, Bliss, and Jenn went to the mall across the street to find some lunch. I have been craving a good salad since its next to impossible to get vegetables over here. Finally we decided on an Italian restaurant where we could each order a salad with our meal. And as we sat down, I couldn't believe my eyes: Tabasco from Avery Island, Louisiana! Crazy! All the way across the world, I still find a little something from home.

Before leaving the mall, I bought a cake pop. Not like the kind you get in America, but it wasn't bad. It was pretty much just chocolate fudge dipped in marshmallows and sprinkles. It was so cute I couldn't pass it up!!

After the mall outing, we went meet up with Carlos, Tim Kraft, Tim Jordan, Sean, and Ian for a movie down Orchard Road. Before the movie, we stopped at this cute little grocery store where we bought sushi to sneak into the movie. One of the weirdest experiences ever: eating sushi and watching a movie with Asian subtitles. The movie was After Earth, which was okay. I don't usually like those kinds of movies with aliens and such. But it was fun to be with all my new friends.
After the movie, we went grab some dinner before heading home. I have been wanting some Chinese fried rice soooo bad but no place I go ever sells it. The Lord knows the desires of my heart, because tonight I finally was able to get some. And it was amazingggggg! ANDDDDD I ate the entire plate with chopsticks!!!! I'm such a pro! ;)  We also ate Muslim satay, the chicken grilled on a stick with a peanut sauce. Interesting. Can't say I will ever eat it again, but I am glad I tried it.

This was not the first time down Orchard Road, but it was the first time I was here at night. It really was incredible. The only thing I can compare it to is Times Square in NYC. The interesting thing about Singapore is that it reminds me so much of NYC in general, except a green version of it. There are plants, trees, flowers, grass between every nook and cranny in the city. They really are incredible at preserving the nature here. Here are some pictures I took tonight:
