Yamel randomly met this older lady, and they started a friendship. Yamel never pushed Jesus on her, just showed her love. With time, she invited Yamel to come over to her street to meet her family and friends. Come to find out, she lives on a very very poor street where the people living there have next to nothing. I am so glad Yamel asked us to tag along.
On the way there, we came to across a really really flooded street. It rained an hour before, but this is flood season in Cambodia. Where little rain produces much flooding. So we rolled up our pants and waded in the water for several blocks. Because they live in the slums, the streets are low and are not built up, making their area much more susceptible to flooding
Once we got to the street, we realized there was a wedding going on so we only had half the amount of people show up who normally come out to meet Yamel. But it was an absolute blast with the ones who did! And the kids were sooooooooo precious!!!
Us doing our skit for them, TK and TJ!
Our translator for the skit
The woman and her daughter with Yamel who made all of this happen
This sweet little boy wanted to sing to us!
After the street ministry, we went to Jeremy and Danielle's house for prayer. We had cake and coffee and talked about what we are learning and experiencing while we are in the program. As a couple, they did the program a few years back. Felt called to be fulltime missionaries, and moved to Cambodia a year later. They have been here ever since.
Jeremy is learning to be very fluent in Khmer and has several disciples that he teaches daily. How awesome! Reaching out to people to tell them about Jesus, in their own language! How much more open they are when it comes directly from someone who has taken the time to learn their language and relate to their culture and them personally. That is why learning the language of where God has called you to be is so important! Do not be ignorant and rely on a translator for the rest of your life. Where is the time and sacrifice in that, don't be lazy. What a small price to pay to get a soul saved! Though it may not seem like a big deal, it matters to those you are ministering to. They care about the small things.
On a side note, the sun sets are beautiful here! Another from today!
